Since 2011 Jali Africa has been offering skills training to vulnerable women from slums who see the need to transform their lives. A total of 61 women were trained in basket making, mat making and simple bakery skills.
In the training, the women are given tips on how to identify business needs within their areas of jurisdiction and try to come up with business opportunities that will satisfy those needs. This helps them to create jobs that in return enhance their living conditions and those of the community at large. This group consists of women of different ages and they act as mentors to the teenage mothers since they understand the community needs and challenges better.
Since 2014, women have been trained in financial literacy. These training helps women borrow wisely and keep proper business records.
Some of the women trained pause for a photo after graduation.
